Super
Spacer Triple Glazed Units Allow Greater Freedom in Glazing Design
... says Reflex glass
whose sealed units are now available as triple glazed manufactured using
Super Spacer warm edge spacer.
Not
only does this allow customers and architects greater freedom to design
larger areas of glazing including 'window walls' in homes and commercial
buildings due to the additional 35% reduction in outside noise, but it
also means that with Reflex+ at the correct unit width, centre pane U-values
of 0.5 W/m2K can be achieved.
With architects and consumers now chasing lower U-values rather than the
flawed window energy ratings, its impressive to see how much extra heat
can be saved with a triple glazed Reflex+ unit featuring a non-metal spacer
bar system.
The company says that it is involved in many large-scale glazing projects
that use Reflex solar control glass to save energy in the summer on air-conditioning
costs, as well as provide more comfortable day lit surroundings during
winter.
We are also working with local building control officers to improve
energy savings and each project has strict U-values for materials used
in the walls and roofs, typically, insulative products that can achieve
U-values of 0.2 W/m2K.
Clearly it makes sense for designers to look for the lowest U-values
in building products such as wall cladding and doors, but when it comes
to glass many people forget that this is also an opportunity to reduce
U-values big time and really make some significant energy savings.
The company claims that it is supplying Clear Reflex+ into carbon neutral
homes that without super low U-values in the glass would lose considerably
more energy in winter and absorb more energy from sunlight during summer,
leading to alternately paying for costly extra heating or the increased
use of costly air-conditioning systems.
