Eurocell:
Safe Working at Height with Ladder Staging System
Eurocell Building Plastics
(EBP), a national network of building plastic depots offering roofline
and accessories, is offering its customers a safer method of working at
height, using its new Ladder Staging System (LSS).
According
to the Health & Safety Executive (HSE), dangerous working at height
incidents accounted for around 23 deaths and over 1,000 injuries last
year, with many of these resulting from inappropriate or incorrect use
of equipment. The Work at Height Regulations 2005 applies to all
work where there is a risk of a fall liable to cause personal injury.
It places duties on employers, the self-employed, and any person who controls
the work of others to ensure they do all that is reasonably practical
to prevent anyone from falling. Eurocell is helping its customers comply
with the regulations by offering the Ladder Staging System (LSS) through
all 87 of its depots.
Manufactured to comply with HSE requirements and the relevant British
Standards, the LSS is designed to provide a safe, secure high level work
platform (up to 7.5m high). It complies with all the relevant British
Standards and will fit onto and should only be used with any Class 1 or
Class 2 ladders that conform to BS EN131. It provides a cost-effective
method for employers, the self-employed or anyone working at heights to
protect themselves and their staff.
Assembled in minutes, the LSS consists of a handed pair of support brackets
that mount onto a ladder. Each support bracket has a telescopic strut,
which enables the support arm to be secured horizontally very quickly,
and locked into position. Four corner posts and a mid post can rapidly
be locked into place, which in turn, receive and support the handrails
and toe boards.
Finally, the staging board is mounted across the support brackets and
locked into place. Ladder Levellers provide the required and HSE
recommended, 75mm of quick, easy and safe adjustment and also eliminate
ladder bounce.
David Salt, Sales and Marketing Director, Eurocell Building Plastics,
continues: 'We are really proud of the LSS and what it means for those
people that undertake work at heights. As a responsible supplier
we are delighted to be able to offer a product that helps our customers
reduce the risk of accidents.'Recently HSE inspectors have been carrying
out impromptu 'Fall and Trips inspection initiatives' on sites around
the UK. Inspectors can take enforcement action where they find unacceptable
and unsafe working practices. This is a clear incentive for all
those working at height to look at the advantages of easy-to-install,
cost-effective products that improve safety in this field of work.
A superb source of readily-available building products for tradesmen and
DIYers, Eurocell depots offer a wide-range of products, excellent service
and market-leading prices. Its staff has built up a loyal customer
base who value their technical knowledge and expert advice.
The LSS is the perfect way to ensure your safety and cost-effective compliance
with HSE regulations.
