South Western Windows in Grade Two Listed Conversion

Weston-super-Mare's stately Victorian seafront terraces have been given a new lease of life with Classic sliding sashes from South Western Windows.

The Grade Two listed houses in Wallacecote Grove Road have been converted and refurbished to modern standards with vertical sliders supplied by Masterframe Windows Ltd.

North Somerset Council commissioned the project to replace the original timber box sashes in the 1870's terraces. It specified PVC-U windows even though the houses were Grade Two listed. Knowing how tough the planners were likely to be to please, Bob Quick turned immediately to Masterframe Windows Ltd: ‘Its Classic windows worked a treat,’ says Bob, Contracts Director of South Western Windows. ‘They look completely in character; just like the originals!’

The Council chose PVC-U over timber for practical reasons: ‘Low-maintenance was a priority,’ explains Bob Quick. ‘The advantage of Masterframe's Classic sashes is that they can be tilted, turned and washed from the inside so no ladders or platforms are needed to clean the buildings.’

South Western Windows was delighted with the £150,000 project and feedback from the client, North Somerset Council, was positive. ‘I've been using Masterframe windows for a decade now and I've never been disappointed,’ says Bob Quick.
