Team Crystal on Winning Form

Team Crystal, the polo team sponsored by national trade fabricator Crystal Direct, has played in - and won! - its first tournament of the 2008 season. The tournament, 'The Chairman's Cup', was held on the 17th and 18th May at the Hertfordshire Polo Club. Team Crystal got off to a good start in the two-day event confidently thrashing their opponents 9 - 3 in the heats. However, the second day final turned into a thrillingly close game with the two teams tied at 6 - 6 by the end of normal time. Team Crystal went on to win by the narrowest of margins thanks to a golden goal in extra time.

Crystal's Chairman, Martin Randall, who played in the match, was delighted with the result. ‘It was an incredibly tough game but we worked well and really played as a team. I'm thrilled with the way we played - and thrilled to have won!’

Polo is currently one of four ‘Team Crystal’ sporting activities supported and sponsored by Crystal Direct - the others being football, netball and showjumping. Martin recently commissioned the design of four new logos for each of the Team Crystal sports to be used on sports kit and in advertising.

‘Team spirit is important in business,’ Martin explains. ‘Crystal wouldn't be achieving the great results we have achieved recently if we didn't have such a great team behind us. But being in a team should be about more than just work - it's about having fun together too and that's what the Team Crystal sports are all about.’
