WHS Halo Puts its Energies into WER

As the market becomes increasingly aware of the implications of Window Energy Ratings (WER), so the need to fully understand the complexities, features and benefits of the scheme has become more important. To this end WHS Halo has published a 30-page guide - Acquiring the WER Label - that explains in detail the operational, management and product requirements of the WER initiative.

Of the 433 of fabricators with an A-C WER rating, 124 - over 28% - are WHS Halo customers, indicating not only how successful WHS Halo is in assisting businesses to achieve the sought-after ratings; but also how well qualified it is to publish on the subject.

Acquiring the WER Label is intended to provide fabricators of WHS Halo's Eclipse and Eclipse esthétique profiles with knowledge of the process needed to achieve WER status, guidance on choosing the types of rating to pursue, right through to BFRC registration and application for use of the Energy Savings Trust's 'Energy Saving Recommended' label.

This is supported by detailed, yet straightforward, explanatory notes on a host of relevant topics from Quality Management Systems, frame and glass specifications to air leakage testing, simulations and certified simulation agencies.

Of particular help to fabricators is a page summarising the various costs associated with achieving WER registration including the attainment of a Quality Management System, product testing, and likely independent agency and BFRC fees.

Dave Mulholland, WHS Halo's marketing director, believes the new guide is essential reading. ‘Fabricators must make an informed choice about WER because it will undoubtedly have an impact on the way they do business in the future. The number of registered products is increasing markedly with forecasts of 60-70% of all domestic windows sold in the next three to five years having a WER label. Now is the time to develop your WER strategy and this publication will answer a lot of questions.’

Acquiring the WER Label is part of WHS Halo's In Business Together package - an innovative business support and training programme that provides fabricators and installers with effective and proven assistance with all stages of business development from launch to exit; and covers a host of critical areas from marketing, management and technical skills through to improving profitability and growth.

WHS Halo is a Certified Simulator in its own right and members of its In Business Together programme receive individual WER calculations free of charge - a saving of as much as £800 per window compared to those from independent consultants.
