Kömmerling
Unearths Green Brochure
Within
an industry which is currently focussed on the issue of sustainability,
manufacturer of co-extruded PVC-u profile, Kömmerling,
has launched a new environmental brochure, the latest addition to its
range of marketing literature.
Explaining
the Lichfield-based companys commitment to ecological issues, the
environmental brochure outlines Kömmerlings responsibility
to researching and developing environmentally-friendly products and processes
and also explains the two green initiatives, recycline and greenline.
Sales Director Kevin Warner comments, 'Kömmerling takes very seriously
its role to protect the environment and this brochure passes the message
on to our fabricators and their customers. We are working on issues that
meet the environmental standards of the future, today.'
Kömmerling was ahead of its time in being the first extruder to develop
a lead-free stabiliser, the greenline formula, to use throughout the manufacturing
process. Stabilisers are required in the manufacture of PVC-u, however
the traditional lead stabilisers raise concerns for the environment. By
developing a calcium-zinc chemical stabiliser, Kömmerling has avoided
the use of lead entirely at its highly advanced manufacturing plant in
Pirmasens, Germany.
Similarly, the recycline initiative, launched earlier this year, displays
Kömmerlings underlying commitment to a sustainable industry.
In conjunction with Penfold Plastics Limited, all Kömmerling fabricators
are now offered a recycling service for off-cuts and waste PVC-u profile,
keeping it out of landfill sites.
'Both schemes are in keeping with the industry initiative Vinyl 2010 in
which we have been actively involved. We are proud to say that those who
choose to use Kömmerlings advanced generation of PVC-u windows
and doors will also be supporting a more sustainable building product
and the future of the planet.'
