Dynamic
2D Opens Door to Easy Security and Style Upgrades
Door installers and maintenance specialists can offer
their retail and commercial customers a simple, value security and aesthetic
makeover with the Dynamic 2D hinge from SFS intec.
The
hinge is a durable, slim fitting hinge which can be retro-fitted to the
majority of mainstream profile systems. A variety of bespoke sash plates
have been developed to ensure the perfect fit for leading profile systems
including the REHAU Edge and Deceuninck Zendow.
The Dynamic 2D's design means it works well as a replacement for existing
door hinges. According to SFS intec's hinge technology product manager
Nigel Wood, that offers potential for those door installers who may be
seeing fewer doorset replacements.
The life expectancy of today's PVC-U and composite doorsets is so
good that many recent customers will not require a complete replacement
for perhaps 10-20 years, says Nigel. However, many customers
may be interested to learn that they can have a hinge upgrade which will
not only enhance the look of their doors but also improve their operational
and security standard.
The Dynamic 2D's enhanced security potential is demonstrated through its
use within PAS-023 and PAS-024 rated doorsets. Although not capable of
reaching these standards in isolation, the hinge's performance is clearly
indicated in tests with one leading PVC-U profile doorset in which it
remained largely operational and intact when subjected to a force double
that required under PAS-024.
Beyond security, SFS intec has also recognised the growing demand for
doorsets to change in line with the latest home décor tastes. For
those installers not already offering door 'style makeovers', this opens
up a potential new revenue stream.
The Dynamic 2D hinge provides a range of standard colour finishes including
matt silver, dark brown and black. Combined with a slim, modern sash plate
design, this adds a contemporary feel to all types of PVC-U doorsets.
Nigel continues, The current slow down in the housing market suggests
that many homeowners will be staying put and investing in their current
home rather than moving. Why not offer these retail customers the opportunity
to invest in their doors if they're not yet ready to replace? Similarly,
social housing specifiers may be interested in hardware upgrades which
are popular with tenants as part of interim maintenance programmes.
It is a win-win proposition - whilst customers may choose to freshen
up the appearance of their aging PVC-U doors, by fitting new hardware
they will also enhance the security and performance at the same time.
