Jonathan Hill Obituary

The recent death of Jonathan Hill (69), former Managing Director of Glaverbel UK, was a shock to all his friends and colleagues in the industry. Jonathan retired from Glaverbel UK (now AGC Flat Glass UK) in 2003 after 12 years with the company. He was instrumental in reshaping the business and rejuvenating the team spirit during a period of change and uncertainty at Glaverbel and within the glass industry as a whole. A true professional, Jonathan provided the perfect link between Glaverbel UK and the company's Headquarters in Brussels and was highly successful in achieving operational targets during his time as MD.

Jonathan's academic background was as a chemical engineer and he also had an MBA. Before joining Glaverbel he had held senior positions within the industrial automation and instrumentation industry and had also worked in Japan. Jonathan lived in Leicester with his wife, Dr Jennifer Clegg, Associate Professor at the University of Nottingham and he was a keen supporter of Leicester Tigers Rugby Club. He also leaves two sons, Thomas (41) and Eric (39) and was due to be a grandfather for the fourth time.

He will be remembered as a gentleman and someone who always had time to take an interest in the people he worked with. He will be missed by everyone who knew him on both a personal and professional level.
