Yorkshire Windows Invests with WINMAC

Yorkshire Windows, based in Rotherham, is the region’s largest manufacturer and installer of PVC-u Windows, Doors and Conservatories. Owned by MD Mike Yarlett, the company has recently installed £500,000 of the latest Automated machinery supplied by WINMAC UK Ltd.

The machinery purchased includes the ROTOX SMK 506-8K 8 Head Welder linked into a 12-axis CNC EKA 577 Transom and Outer Frame Cleaning Line, with the finished frames then automatically off-loaded and placed into a 20 compartment racking system.

This line has been complemented by the addition of a ROTOX SEK 503 ‘X’ welding machine and a ROTOX EKA 379 CNC Corner and Transom cleaner.

Operations Director Steve Cousins said, ‘The reason for such a major investment was to enable Yorkshire Windows to increase our production from 1800 windows per week, to over 2600 windows per week, without the need to buy-in from other fabricators. This has been achieved!’

When asked why WINMAC was chosen for this major level of investment Steve continues: ‘We looked around the market place without letting any machinery supplier know that we were getting ready for such an investment, it then became obvious that the customers who chose to use WINMAC and ROTOX machinery, received both the service and quality of finished products that was by far the best available and we have not been disappointed with that choice.’ In fact once Mike Yarlett had been shown the benefits of the special off-loading system during a presentation by WINMAC, it immediately became a necessary addition to complete the line.

This commercial vision is not surprising, as Yorkshire Windows has been a very successful family business for the past 28 years.

Now with a turnover of approx £25-million, and employing over 300 members of staff the company has achieved an array of British Standards Certificates, which ensures it continues operating at the highest levels possible. This has been further proved with regards to the company’s care of the environment, and as a result it has just completed and validated an Environmental Management System on the 24th January 2008.
