GGF
goes Regional with the Green Message
Last week the GGF Chief Executive, Nigel Rees, had a
very positive meeting with the Rt Hon Elliott Morley MP. He is MP for
Scunthorpe and a former Environment Minister. Nigel had the opportunity
to brief on the outcomes of Project Green, both the environmental credentials
and the fiscal energy saving and CO2 emission reductions possible, following
the installation of energy efficient windows.
'We had the opportunity to discuss the current situation in the Industry
and the difficult times being faced by window companies, selling to the
consumer'. He was surprised to hear about the VAT anomaly and agreed to
follow up with the Treasury to attempt to ascertain why double glazing
and low emissivity glass should be specifically excluded. He agreed that
energy efficient windows offered an excellent means to save energy and
reduce emissions and would assist if he could. He agreed that some form
of incentive was needed to assist the seller, prior to sale, or the purchaser
after they have purchased a property with poor performing windows.'
'We agreed to maintain contact and pass on further details when they are
available.'
