Dekura
Makes Site Waste Management Simple
The
UK's leading PVC-U recycler Dekura
has launched a new service designed to support fabricators and installers
address the new Site Waste Management legislation which came into force
on April 6th.
Site Waste Management Plans (SWMPs) which are now mandatory for all construction
projects worth over £300,000, aim to reduce the amount of waste
produced on construction sites as well as raise the profile of efficient
waste planning.
With the new legislation, waste management practices are becoming increasingly
fundamental, particularly within the construction industry, which is responsible
for a large proportion of landfill waste.
Tony Moore, general manager, Dekura, said: The new site waste management
legislation will soon filter down to fabricators and installers who will
find that more and more, winning new business will be determined by their
environmental performance.
A Site Waste Management Plan is simply a plan that details how much
and what type of waste is created on a site and how it is going to be
reused, recycled or disposed of. During the project, the plan is updated
to show how the waste is being managed and what materials are being disposed
of that cannot be reused or recycled.
Dekura can help its customers tackle site waste by offering a simple,
reliable and legally compliant waste disposal and management service which
includes post-industrial and dedicated post-consumer waste recycling facilities.
These facilities not only help to improve environmental credentials but
can help fabricators and installers make crucial savings on landfill tax
as well.
Dekura is totally committed to its environmental responsibility and as
well as being a signatory to Vinyl 2010, is supporting a wide range of
UK-wide recycling initiatives.
The company is at the forefront of PVC-U recycling innovation and this
includes all aspects of waste planning and management, helping fabricators
and installers to not only reduce costs but to enhance their green credentials
too.
Tony added: SWMPs help to promote the opportunities available to
prevent or minimise waste on site whilst acting as a tool for businesses
to reap the benefits. These include the reduction of waste going to landfill
which in turn reduces waste disposal costs, improving overall environmental
performance and also helping to meet regulatory controls.
With the new legislation in place, it is now crucial for businesses
to have effective site waste management plans and Dekura can support them
in this process. Having good waste management systems is not simply good
for the environment but good for your business too.
