Bystronic at the Cutting Edge with Lee Glass

Bystronic has recently completed the installation of a new Smart'lamicut cutting table which is the first of its kind in the UK. Lee Glass, based in Nottingham, is one of the Midlands' largest glass processors and senior management at the company have invested in the equipment to further automate and improve manufacturing standards.

Lee Glass already supplies cut to size laminated glass to shop-fitting and exhibition companies as well as the midland glass market, however there was a need to both increase capacity and quality with a justifiable investment level. The purchase of the Smart'lamicut now ensures that the company can increase output with the highest quality cut.

Bystronic developed the Smart'lamicut with these factors in mind and many of the superior design technologies normally associated with fully automatic laminate cutting lines have been incorporated into this compact version.

Additionally Bystronic developed an innovative clamping system for the installation to allow small and thin strips of laminate glass to be cut without causing venting in the glass plate.

Lee Glass evaluated all of the compact tables available on the market and decided to purchase the Smart'lamicut due to its build quality. The system has standard features built into it that are not normally associated with compact machines, however the outstanding quality of the cut was of significant importance to senior management.

Output has increased significantly since the installation was completed. Senior management felt that it was essential to further automate the facilities in order to remain ahead of competitors.
