JELD-WEN
Gives Full Backing to WWA
JELD-WEN,
the timber window manufacturer, has given its full support to the new
Wood Window Alliance (WWA).
The
WWA is made up of leading figures from manufacturing and supply within
the timber windows industry, who have joined together to promote timber
windows as the natural and sustainable choice. The organisation has the
backing of the British Woodworking Federation and General Manager of JELD-WENs
window factory John Shaw is a key member of the steering committee.
John Shaw from JELD-WEN explains: 'We got involved with the WWA straightaway
as we recognised the important role it could play in driving timber forward
as the only truly sustainable material. This is a superb opportunity for
the industry to join together to celebrate everything that is great about
timber and to show specifiers how timber windows offer the very best performance
on the market.'
JELD-WEN recently supplied Oakenstead Estates with bespoke timber windows
for its Watersedge development on the seafront at Weymouth.
The highlight of this development was a stunning turret, a 4m high circular
wall of glass in an imposing style reminiscent of luxurious coastal properties
built in the Edwardian period. Each of the individual houses also featured
attractive bay windows on two levels, which enhanced the complete view
of the stunning seafront location.
The company supplies a full range of timber windows from traditional sliding
sash designs to contemporary styles, designer and Bay windows in a wide
range of sizes and specifications.
All timber windows are available fully finished and JELD-WEN has developed
its factory finishing capabilities to offer six year on stain and ten
year on paint finishes. Factory glazed windows are also growing in popularity,
with JELD-WEN providing a wide range of glazing options, including Low-E
and self cleaning glass.
All JELD-WENs softwood timber windows are PEFC Chain of Custody
certified, which means they originate from well managed forests.
All its fully finished and factory glazed timber windows have achieved
the BSI Kitemark and all the companys windows are certified under
the Timber Windows Accreditation (TWA) Scheme.
