It's
Fun at the YMCA
RAD
Window Services has successfully completed a total refurbishment
of all windows and doors at Aelfgar House, a YMCA building in Rugeley,
Staffordshire.
The project was completed in under a month and was undertaken on behalf
of Midland Heart Housing Association. It is the largest Housing Association
in the Midlands and Aelfgar House YMCA is part of Midland Heart's ongoing
investment programme in social housing.
The building comprises 28 flats which are a mixture of studios and en
suite bedrooms together with offices, communal rooms and kitchens.
299 timber frame windows were replaced with new Rehau S70 frames manufactured
by RAD's supplier - Advantage Trade Supplies Ltd. RAD also fitted 38 composite
doors with electronic latch releases supplied through Entrance CDS Ltd.
The sealed units contain K glass backed with 6mm Lexan anti-vandal glass.
RAD was founded by three directors: John Day, Glenn Rivers and Keith Ascough.
All three have years of experience in commercial and domestic window manufacturing
and installation, having previously worked in senior capacities for a
large commercial window company in Birmingham.
Glen Rivers of RAD says: We really pulled out all the stops with
Aelfgar House as we were only awarded the contract at the end of January
2008. We effectively had eight weeks to survey, plan, calculate the wind
loadings and complete the installation. We couldn't have done the job
without the support of Advantage. The company provided us with technical
assistance and never missed a delivery. It gave us the confidence we needed
to manage the contract without having to worry about our supplier letting
us down.
Commenting on the refurbishment, David Gough, YMCA operations manager
said: RAD was very professional and a super team from start to finish.
The company worked closely with us on the risk assessments and method
statements and completed the job on budget and on time. We are already
seeing the benefits in terms of reduced heating costs and protection from
vandalism. I recommend RAD very highly.
David Gough's comments were echoed by Paul Johnson, MD of Sutton Oak Surveying
Ltd, the surveyors for Midland Heart.
