Gains Installer Q- Mark for Windows and Doors
Carpentry and joinery specialist B W Consultants
Ltd has gained the BM TRADA Certification Q-Mark for Survey
and Installation of Windows and External Doorsets. The company has recently
completed the installation of 38 Mighton Ecotilt sliding sash windows
at Laing O'Rourke's multi-million pound development of a listed building
in Tooley Street, London.
Based in Hertfordshire, BWC employs 12 staff across three sites and has
grown its annual turnover to £1 million. Managing Director Steve
West said, 'We decided to go down the Q-Mark route because we wanted to
differentiate ourselves from other installers. Another goal was to be
registered with Secured by Design and for this we needed third-party certification.
We chose to work with BM TRADA because of our mutual expertise in timber
and construction.'
BM TRADA launched its installer Q-Mark scheme at the start of this year,
to improve the quality and consistency of installation of windows and
doorsets, said Product Certification Manager Simon Beer.
'Correct installation is essential to maintain all aspects of product
performance, such as ease of operation, weathertightness, security or
thermal performance, all of which can be reduced or negated through poor
installation.'
The new scheme will build on the success of BM TRADA's Q-Mark installer
scheme for timber fire doorsets, which is specified by national organisations
such as BAA. Steve West said, 'The Q-Mark gives our customers the assurance
that the project will be carried out by competent operatives who are independently
certified by a respected name in the construction industry.'
