K-Seal Glass Places Green Policy as a Priority

K-Seal Glass is reinforcing its commitment to green policies with the Green Apprenticeship scheme. This concept has been further developed to ensure that all manufacturing procedures are environmentally friendly.

Originally launched in 2007 it is hoped that the scheme, will become a benchmark training standard throughout the industry in relation to the reduction of environmental waste.

K-Seal has appointed a dedicated Environmental Officer who in this role, heavily monitors, maintains and where necessary implements new measures to ensure that manufacturing procedures are as eco-friendly as possible to reduce their impact upon the environment.

This incorporates evaluating environmental issues at source and adapting business practices accordingly. Suppliers are determined in respect of their own environmental policies and where possible K-Seal chooses companies from within the North West in order to help reduce pollution from diesel and exhaust fumes.

Additionally recycling is placed as a priority with waste carefully segregated into various glass types. This ensures that glass can either be re-used or can be crushed for inclusion in other recycling methods such as road surface products and sandpaper.

The local community also benefits from the recycling procedures with donations of glass sent to one company that manufactures ornaments from recycled glass.

Additionally all staff are supplied with a Human Resource information pack regarding K-Seal's green policies. When required this is updated and circulated to ensure measures are implemented accordingly.

Waste output is strictly measured throughout the company in respect of machinery suppliers and the production methods used to ensure that waste is reduced wherever possible. The Green Apprenticeship scheme demonstrates the company's commitment to reduce its impact on the environment by recycling waste and achieving carbon neutral status.

Managing Director Stephen Woolley has a progressive attitude to the market and is keen to see more companies launch similar schemes into manufacturing procedures. His forward thinking approach was most recently recognised by the British Chamber of Commerce with the award for Best Business - North West 2007, in recognition of the environmental benefits provided by Enviroglas™.

The corporate philosophy to provide only the best in terms of products and service support whilst tackling environmental issues has resulted in the company being the preferred supplier to many leading companies within the commercial and domestic market sectors.

Stephen Woolley, Managing Director, K-Seal Glass comments, ‘We are dedicated to our environmental policy and consider this is something that should be considered by all manufacturers. We believe the appointment of an Environmental Officer is imperative and it is tangible proof that our production methods will be constantly evaluated and improved to help decrease CO2 emissions and ultimately reduce our carbon footprint.’

He concludes, ‘With many new projects in the pipeline for 2008 as well as a progressive stance to environmental issues and quality production methods, K-Seal has established an undeniably strong reputation as a market leader.’
