Secure Future for Zenith Under Weatherseal

Weatherseal, one of the UK's leading window companies, has secured more than 700 jobs following the takeover of Zenith Staybrite which was placed in administration earlier this year.

Weatherseal, which is part of the Latium Group of companies and has an annual turnover of approximately £500 million, is one of the UK's longest-established window companies specialising in double glazing, windows and doors, conservatories, roofline products and provides a service that's second-to-none.

It acquired the sales and installation divisions of Norwich-based Zenith Staybrite in January after it was put into administration by owners Bowater. More than 300 jobs have been secured in Norwich and Norfolk.

Weatherseal Managing Director Ian Blackhurst said: 'It is unfortunate that many people lost their jobs following Bowater's decision to close down Zenith Staybrite. However, under Weatherseal we believe the company and its remaining people have a secure and prosperous future.

'Weatherseal, supported by Latium Group, has its own world-class manufacturing facilities. Since we took control of Zenith Staybrite we have worked hard, alongside our new colleagues, to stabilise the business and a strategy is now in place to further grow sales and secure the long-term future of the company'

Zenith Staybrite will continue to trade under its existing band name and currently has orders for more than £10 million. Weatherseal plans to invest further in the Zenith Staybrite brand particularly in sales and customer care.

Mr Blackhurst said: 'In spite of the current economic slowdown we see many opportunities emerging in the market place. In our experience in a dormant housing market more people seek to invest in their homes and improve the fabric of the building and we fully expect the company to benefit from this.
