Raising the AM Profile

Following a busy 2007 for AM Profiles, which included excellent feedback and hundreds of sales leads from the company’s stand at Interbuild, 2008 sees the company investing heavily in new specialised equipment to meet the demand for its recently launched 'Design-5' timber aluminium composite 'Design-5' window system.

The Design-5 concept is based on timber as the main structural element of the window and the system incorporates aluminium extrusions, that firmly clip to the outside surface of the timber giving the window or door excellent weathering, longevity and supreme performance.

The aluminium can be finished in any RAL or anodised colour, and the internal timber can be specified in a wide range of species and decorative finishes.

Both aluminium and timber offer excellent recycling characteristics and the composite construction offers very high thermal levels compared to most window materials - this ensures that the Design-5 product is one of the most sustainable products available on the market today.

The new equipment expands the AM Profiles production facility in Chesterfield and brings timber element of the manufacturing process in-house for the rapidly growing Design-5 range.

Alistair McBain, Managing Director explains, ‘We have had a great deal of interest in the Design-5 system since its launch at Interbuild and felt the time was right to invest in automated production equipment to facilitate manufacture of the timber frames. With a growing order book we needed the extra capacity to ensure that we remain the UK's number one composite window manufacturer.’

With all production of the Design-5 system now being brought in-house, AM Profiles can offer high quality bespoke solutions from a batch or one off product requirement. The significant six figure investment cuts weeks off traditional lead-times for similar imported aluminium timber products. With the new 5 axis head SCM manufactured CNC equipment gives AM Profiles the capability of producing specialist curved head window designs.

As lead-times continue to lengthen for imported composite window products AM Profiles is cutting production time and investing in quality and efficiency. AM Profiles says that it is the only UK company producing such high quality composite windows in volume as all its significant competition is from mainland European suppliers.

The Design-5 window is an open out system which includes top and side swing fully reversible and casement options plus fixed panes that can be beaded from the inside or outside. Aluminium timber composite doors and curtain wall are also available from AM Profiles to complete their extensive suite.
