Partner with Pilkington and the Energy Efficiency Revolution

Following the successful launch of Pilkington energiKare™ in May 2007, the St Helens-based glass manufacturer has responded to customer feedback to ensure more of the industry can become partners and supply the energy efficient insulating glass unit.

Window companies up and down the country have already joined the energy efficiency revolution. However, extensive research with manufacturers about how to join the scheme has led to a review of its rules so that all those interested can get involved.

One major change is that installers who do not fabricate windows can now become partners and promote the Pilkington energiKare™ brand directly to householders. Window installers should simply indicate which company they buy their windows from and submit its British Fenestration Ratings Council (BFRC) certificate to Pilkington. This ensures that installers then feature on the Pilkington energikare™ homeowner supplier feature directly.

In addition, IGU processors can now partner with Pilkington if their IGU is made up of either:

* Pilkington Optiwhite™/ Argon fill / Pilkington K Glass™ where EN 1279-3 must be demonstrated, or
* Pilkington Optiwhite™/ Air fill with warm edge spacer/ Pilkington K Glass™ where EN 1279 - 2 must be demonstrated.

Andy McDowell, Product Manager IGU (UK), Pilkington, said: ‘We're delighted that there is so much interest about becoming a Pilkington energiKare™ partner. These changes enable more of our loyal processor customer base to join the scheme whilst maintaining the quality credentials of the brand through conformance to the relevant Parts of EN1279. For window companies the rules are the same - in both cases a Pilkington energiKare(tm) IGU must achieve a minimum Window Energy Rating of a C when glazed in a suitable frame. Sign ups will also work in the same way, with the appropriate certification being supplied to the Pilkington call centre.’

He continues: ‘Our consumer promotional campaign is scheduled to start over the next few weeks and we showcased a summary of our plans at our recent launch events. Our consumer website is now live at http://www.pilkington.co.uk/energikare, Pilkington energiKare™ will begin appearing in consumer magazines and newspapers in the coming months and our television advertising, including Channel 5, will start in mid-February.
