Expansion
Universal
Arches continues to expand thanks to investment in the business and a
very customer focused approach which has now seen the St Helens based
company grow to 51 employees.
Since the business was acquired by new owners Clair Ridley and Leon Day
in 2005 the company has evolved from bending specialist to more of an
engineering led company. Staff numbers have grown from 39 employees to
51 over the last two years and recent investments in 3D computer modelling
have also helped increase production capacity and with it improved product
quality and accuracy. A new set of internal systems and procedures have
also contributed to a company-wide quality management system as a move
to improve operational efficiencies.
Two new vehicles have also been added to the fleet to cope with the increase
in demand for circles, arches (including door and vertical slider), angled
frames and gable frames. Further afield, the deal with Edgetech in the
USA is proving fruitful as sales of the specialist Form8tor bending equipment
are beginning to come through.
Leon Day, director, concludes: We've invested considerable time
and resources in the business for the benefit of all those involved with
Universal including customers, suppliers and employees. These changes
will help define our business to meet the needs of a changing market and
to help improve our product and service offering. We fully intend to cement
our position as the leader in this specialist sector through continuous
improvement and investment.
