Network VEKA Hits the Half-billion

It was Champagne time again at Network VEKA as members chalked up over £500million of accumulated sales.

But the Malvern pensioner whose installation crossed the line won't be popping the cork just yet. Mrs Merle Stanning, aged 88, is saving it for a very special reunion with her son who had to undergo emergency open-heart surgery while on holiday in Australia.

‘The Champagne will help to make the homecoming all the more special,’ said Merle, whose son Andrew Irwin was rushed to hospital in Sydney on Christmas Eve. ‘He is still recuperating but he is coming home in April.’

The conservatory and window job by Ledbury-based Shane Howells, is one of more than 130,000 installations by Network VEKA members since it was founded in 1996.

It took members nearly five years to reach the first £100million sales, back in 2001. Last year, Network VEKA announced it had bucked the industry slowdown by adding its fourth £100million in a record 18 months and the latest £100million took even less than that.
