Launches Recycline
Profile
manufacturer KBE has joined forces with Bristol-based Penfold Plastics
Ltd to almost entirely eradicate waste from its customers production
lines.
The
Recycline initiative has been launched by KBE in partnership with Penfold
Plastics to ensure that its PVC-u window profiles are efficiently recycled.
The scheme, which is to be offered to all customers in the UK, will see
Penfold Plastics buying waste profile, collecting, recycling and returning
it to KBEs parent company, Profine in Germany, to be re-processed.
Managing Director of Penfold Plastics, Peter Penfold explains, 'In the
past, off-cuts and other waste profile has ended up as landfill. KBE fabricators
that sign-up to the Recycline initiative will be able to boast a 100%
reduction in waste PVC-u and also refer to their windows as sustainable.'
Penfold Plastics has invested in £400,000 worth of new equipment,
including processing machinery and collection cages, to help roll this
scheme out to window fabricators across the UK. Already a number of KBE
customers have signed up to Recycline and the rest are expected to come
on board by the end of the year.
James
Robinson, KBE Sales Director, comments, 'Were really excited to
be launching this initiative which will further strengthen our position
as Europes number one in the production of PVC-u window profiles.
Recycline is a cost effective and responsible way for fabricators to dispose
of their waste profile.'
Although the Recycline initiative has been planned for some time, the
implementation of the project has been very timely for KBE. With new legislation
over the disposal of non-hazardous waste from October 2007 and the proposed
270% increase in landfill tax expected in April 2008, all customers taking
advantage of Recycline will reap the benefits with immediate effect.
James continues, 'The PVC industry Vinyl 2010 scheme, is actively encouraging
those in the trade to realise how advantageous recycling is to all concerned.
Penfold Plastics was heavily involved with the Vinyl 2010 charter from
the outset and so was a natural partner for KBE to increase its environmental
credentials.
'As more and more architects are insisting on using recyclable products,
fabricators who are certified by us as a sustainable fabricator,
could attract a significant amount of new business.'
Penfold Plastics will make a prompt payment for collecting off-cuts and
post-consumer waste directly from the customer. Where previously the fabricator
has had to pay to dispose of this waste product, the Recycline initiative
will see fabricators being rewarded for not disposing of the waste at
all. Also, Penfold Plastics will provide all the relevant paperwork for
waste disposal proving an auditable paper trail in compliance with the
Environmental Protection Act 1990.
Any KBE fabricators looking to sign up to the scheme immediately can contact
Peter Penfold on 01934 832 711.
