Dekura
Launches Eco-fleet
Dekura,
the PVC-U recycler has launched its new fleet of eco-lorries as part of
the company's commitment to minimise its environmental impact.
The new fleet of nine eco-lorries all use the Euro 5 engine, the most
efficient, environmentally-friendly engine available to the market.
The Euro 5 has the lowest existing CO2 emissions and uses an extra tank
of AdBlue on the side of the vehicle which sprays a vapour into the exhaust
system to reduce emissions. What's more, the vehicles also have the capacity
to be adapted to run solely on bio-fuel - something currently being trialled
at Dekura.
Tony Moore, general manager, Dekura, said: Dekura's new fleet of
eco-lorries has been launched to reaffirm the company's commitment to
the environment.
With the introduction of the new fleet we have been able to significantly
reduce fuel consumption and have been awarded a government-backed 'Reduced
Pollution Certificate' (RPC).
With
government policies already in place to tackle climate change, there is
a huge move towards reducing UK CO2 emissions by 20 percent in the next
two years.
Tony said: Hauliers face increasingly stringent rules governing
emissions. This major investment allows us to future-proof our business
and to make a valuable contribution to the improved environmental performance
of our fleet at the same time.
As part of this commitment Dekura has invested in regional company satellites,
each with its own processing operation. This means that everything collected
is granulated before being shipped-out for reprocessing so every lorry
out on the road is carrying a full load - not just fresh air.
Tony added: Dekura is leading the way in reducing CO2 emissions
with its new eco-lorries and will continue to invest in reducing the overall
impact it has on the environment.
Accredited and a full member of Recovinly, Dekura collects PVC-U waste
from more than 1,000 window and door fabricators nationwide. The company
recycles not only post-industrial waste but is uniquely positioned to
recycle old, early-generation post-consumer waste in the UK.
