Advanced
Profile Bending Technology from Archways
With the demise of Radius Plastics Ltd, Alan Cunningham,
the former owner, has started a new company, Archways UK Ltd.
Utilising
his 20 years experience, together with the longest serving and most experienced
staff from the now defunct Radius Plastics who have joined him at Archways,
Alan's aim is to provide the most advanced profile bending techniques
with the highest possible quality in the profile bending industry. Principally
this is to form full lengths of profile, therefore avoiding unsightly
butt welds, which is especially significant when using woodgrain profiles.
Archways will focus on a select number of profile systems, among them
Rehau, Veka, Profile 22 and Eurocell, all of which will all be available
from stock. This will enable Archways to avoid the inevitable delays caused
by the customer having to supply the profile, which can lead to damages
and losses, by the carrier companies.
Alan is a leading innovator in the development and manufacturing of profile
bending equipment and techniques, and his designs have been widely copied
globally. He was, in fact, the inventor of infra-red profile bending in
1988.
Until then the only known method was by hot oil, which considering that
the required temperature is way past boiling point is a very dangerous
and messy procedure. Other landmarks include the introduction of the first
fully opening PVC-U circular window.
Due to constant innovation, Archways can offer the most efficient and
accurate profile bending systems, which are all developed in house, and
are available to buy from sister company Archmaster Ltd should any fabricator
be looking to manufacture curved frames.
In the very near future Archways and Archmaster will be holding an open
day from its 20,000 square foot premises in St Helens town centre to demonstrate
profile bending and fabrication techniques. At the moment Archways says
that it is the only company capable of bending a full length of woodgrain
door sashes to a diameter as small as 800mm and in conjunction with major
hardware manufacturers the company has developed wrap around gearing to
ensure continuous sealing around the arch.
