Windows Benefits from
USA
Living Space Trend
A
Cheshire conservatory designer is seeing the benefit of a house-design
trend in the USA.
Poynton-based Crystal Windows, a designer of premium upmarket and exclusive
conservatories, is receiving more and more design briefs from North West
homeowners wanting to turn their houses into North American 'living space'
designs.
'The American 'living space' design concept of one open plan room for
living, relaxing, dining and cooking can only be created by knocking walls
down or building extensions - or specifying a house design at planning
stage,' said Paul Masterson of Crystal Windows.
'But there's a problem: the house move market has stalled, and extensions
need planning permission - however, the majority of conservatories do
not.
'What this means is that we're getting more and more commissions for large
conservatories, which, combined with a few carefully co-ordinated interior
wall re-alignments, means that the 'living space' concept is a possibility
after all.
'Our conservatories are unashamedly premium quality, designed in close
collaboration with either architects or the homeowners - or both - and
constructed to the highest standard.
'With correctly specified insulated glass and heating they can seemingly
double the size of a downstairs room - sometimes more - and create that
'living' space feeling while not being subject to the massive issues and
hassle associated with planning permission.
'The sky's the limit when talking about the potential price of a conservatory,
but most cost around about the same as it would cost to move house - and
the vast majority add their own value and more to a house price for a
good ten years or so after they're fitted.
'As well as rarely needing planning permission - which we would deal with
as part of the service anyway - the modern generation of conservatories
are incredibly efficient. What's more, by investing in premium materials
such as self-cleaning glass or special paint and finishes, they stay in
top condition both day-to-day and longer term.
'Conservatories can meet a range of demands: of course, south facing means
all-day sun, east-facing means morning sun, west means evening sun - but
even north facing can suit many households and bring light to naturally
darker sections of a home.
'We don't use sales people - we are very careful about how we do business.
Our products and services are design-led, something reflected by the fact
that we are sought out and commissioned to design and construct conservatories
rather than do the hard sell,' said Paul.
