Mumford & Wood Scores a Personnel Hat-Trick

Mumford & Wood, the Tiptree, Essex-based manufacturer of timber windows and doors, has announced with immediate effect the promotion of three members of the senior management team. These recognitions have taken place in just over a year since Mumford & Wood became a member company of The Performance Window Group (PWG) under the leadership of Roy Wakeman, CEO. During this time Mumford & Wood has experienced great success in sales revenue growth and operating profits having set enthusiastic targets during a period of change in the industry.

Mumford & Wood Management Team

Chris Wood, Managing Director, Mumford & Wood
Chris Wood, son of one of the two founding members of the company, becomes Managing Director from his position of Sales and Marketing Director. This is the culmination of an exciting year for Chris in which one of the many highlights was his selection for one of 20 cosseted places on the AXA sponsored SME Masterclass Award run in conjunction with The Mail on Sunday.

Chris Wood commented: '2007 has seen our turnover grow from £6 to £9 million, which is a great achievement. This tremendous success is due to the massive demand for top quality timber windows and a fantastic team of people here who work to the highest standards.' Chris, who lives with his young family in Billericay, Essex earns this promotion at the age of 38 years.

Steve Purcell, Sales Director

Steve Purcell becomes Sales Director from the position of Sales Manager at Mumford & Wood. He has gained invaluable product and sales knowledge of a technically superior product and is well prepared for the challenge of this senior promotion. 'I am looking forward to the year head and particularly proud to be associated with such a prestigious timber window brand.' Steve, 43, of Silver End, Braintree has been with the company for eight years.

Tom Barfield, Sales Manager

Tom Barfield becomes Sales Manager of Mumford & Wood from his successful position as assistant sales manager. He takes his product knowledge in this specialist field to a wider audience and will also be responsible for training additional members of the sales team to meet the company’s future needs. 'The future for M&W looks set to be a bright one with our quality timber products appealing to a more discerning public, to developers and architects.' Tom is 37, from Braintree, Essex and has been with the company for five years.

This news comes at a time when PWG has announced the successful acquisition of Clearwood UK, Redruth, Cornwall, the region’s most successful manufacturer of fully accredited, factory finished timber windows and doors. PWG intends to invest in the growth of Clearwood’s range of timber windows and doorsets whilst maximising the group’s opportunities to reduce operating costs in the administration and supply chain areas. PWG is looking forward to an optimistic and busy future and further acquisitions are being planned by Roy Wakeman, CEO, The Performance Window Group, over the coming months.

'With the increasing sustainability of wood and its ‘green’ credentials contributing substantially to zero carbon homes,' says Roy Wakeman, 'this is an exciting time for timber which is achieving its rightful place as a major construction material of the future.'

PWG has also launched the new venture Mumford & Wood Installations Ltd. expanding the Group’s offering by including a fully integrated ‘supply’ and ‘supply and fit’ service. This sister company is headed by Shaun McAllister as Managing Director who joined the company recently to develop sales complementary to that of Mumford & Wood while building a national register of approved installers.
