WHS
Halo Curries Favour on the Sub-Continent
Systems
company WHS Halo has moved to secure the growth and long-term future of
the business with a ground-breaking alliance in India. The company has
joined forces with the Ajay Industrial Corporation in a deal which will
see Ajay extrude WHS Halo's System 10 profile in the sub-continent. WHS
Halo will supply tool, technical and profile design support; as well as
input on sales and marketing.
The deal is in response to the real growth opportunities that India offers.
These are as a result - among other things - of its democratic structure,
its enterprise culture and its window styles, particular casements, being
similar to those in the UK - a legacy of the two countries' colonial history.
The country has an expanding middle class in its cities; a large, skilled
workforce and has made considerable developments in areas such as information
technology. Economic growth is currently running at around 9%.
The Ajay Industrial Corporation - founded in 1961 - is an ideal partner
for the overseas expansion because of its long history and experience
of thermoplastic extrusion. It currently operates in a wide range of extrusion
market sectors - domestic, commercial and industrial. The company is,
for instance, the largest supplier of automotive extruded parts in India.
Head-quartered in Delhi, the company is also well placed to manage the
considerable logistic challenges of distribution in such a vast country.
WHS Halo Managing Director Winston Duguid says of the initiative: We
have looked at markets all over the world - and wherever the British have
been there is a legacy of casement windows. India in particular has a
number of attractions; and its skilled workforce, huge market potential
and legal and business structures make it a natural and logical choice
for joint venture initiatives. Through the alliance with Ajay in India,
we will further secure the long-term future of our business; in tandem
with our commitment to, and focus on, success in Britain and Ireland.
