Ritec Wins ISO 9001 Seal of Approval

Ritec International, specialist in 'non-stick' surface solutions, has been awarded ISO 9001: 2000 - the international quality standard for a company's products and services. Certification covers Ritec's manufacture of liquid products for the renovation, protection and maintenance of glass, aluminium and stainless steel. Ritec's route to ISO 9001 involved a thorough independent assessment of all internal systems, from production and sales order processing through to purchasing, staff training and administration.

Achieving this coveted ISO standard brings many benefits to Ritec, its staff and its customers, says the company's Operations Manager, Christine Tatnall, who was responsible for overseeing ISO 9001 certification: ‘Although most of our systems already met the required quality standard, the approval process helped to highlight areas where we could improve efficiency even further. For example, by updating certain procedures and defining key roles and responsibilities we've been able to enhance productivity and our service to customers.’

Ritec has also implemented LEAN manufacturing techniques to optimise production by eliminating waste. In addition, the company has been working with an experienced advisor from CQMS, the leading Health and Safety Consultancy, who will assist Ritec in maintaining its Quality Management System to the ISO 9001 standard.

Christine Tatnall continues, ‘ISO 9001 is a great achievement but we're not resting on our laurels and believe it's important for an organisation to seek ever higher standards. We'll be ensuring that orders are met consistently, on time and to the correct specification and motivating our staff to work towards continued improvement for the benefit of our business and our customers.’

Among the brands approved under Ritec's ISO 9001 certification is the ClearShield glass protection system, a tried and tested technology for the renovation, protection and maintenance for all types of new and existing glass, from building facades to shower doors and marine glass. Christine Tatnall concludes, ‘ISO 9001 is an important endorsement of this proven product range which will open up new market opportunities for ClearShield and all of its licensed applicators, from window fabricators to decorative glass designers.’
