Concealed
Motor for Schüco Suncontrol Solar Shading System
An
operating motor that is entirely concealed from view is the latest innovation
in Schüco's SunControl Active range of movable large-louvre shading
systems.
Designed to enhance the aesthetic appeal of the external louvres - which
are fitted to improve the environmental performance of a building -
the new motor is small enough to be housed in the SunControl support
mullion.
Besides its compact size, the concealed motor has the added advantage
of being more powerful than previous models, meaning that the number
of motors per louvre - and therefore the installed cost - can be significantly
reduced. A single motor can control a louvre up to 305mm deep and with
a span of over 4.4m horizontally or over 5m vertically.
Another benefit is that the motor operates a gear system, so giving
the louvre the ability to rotate through 360 degrees irrespective of
whether it is mounted in the horizontal or vertical plane.
The new motor can be linked to sensor-reactive motor controls that alter
the angle of the blades in response to a variety of external factors
such as brightness, wind speeds and even ice build-up. Incorporated
into an integrated building management programme, such a system can
contribute significantly to the comfort of occupants and the energy
efficiency of a building.
