A
First with Totally Non-Invasive Testing of Gas Filled Units
The
Inagas Gasglass Handheld test unit is the world's first truly non-invasive
method for measuring the volume of Krypton or Argon gas fills in completed
sealed units. It is totally portable so the amount of gas within the
cavity can be quickly and accurately measured no matter where the
unit is, on the production line, in the stores ready for distribution
and even installed into a customer's frame, even when in a building.
Use
of the Gasglass Handheld is simplicity itself. Powered by rechargeable
batteries, the easily handled lightweight test unit is positioned
on the glass close to the unit edge. A press button switch triggers
the discharge of a high voltage but completely safe low amperage spark
across the glass and cavity. The changes to light refraction caused
by the presence of gas is quickly and accurately measured by clever
internal electronics with the percentage of gas volume indicated on
the in-built digital read-out. Individual measurements take less than
a second. The tester can then log and store the information, which
can be subsequently downloaded to a PC so quality control records
and traceability are ensured.
One company already reaping the benefits of Inagas's technology is
Ely based sealed unit specialists Holloseal. Sealed Unit Business
Manager, Mark Jarrod explained, We needed to be ready for the
demands for the imporoved energy efficiencies of sealed units and
importantly for EN 1279. Gas filling helps us reach that objective
and importantly, our new Inagas Gasglass Handheld tester means we
can easily prove the volume of gas fill in our sealed units no matter
where or how old they are. With this equipment we now have a quality
control system that is second to none and are ready for the February
2007 requirements for proof of gas fill to add to the acknowledged
quality and durability of our units.
The Inagas Gasglass Handheld is supplied in a protective carry case
and comes complete with a charging cable and relevant software for
connection to a computer.
