Windows Launches New Thermal Fixing Lug
GT
Windows Limited has introduced a new thermal fixing lug under the
brand name GT Lug-Fix. This new fixing lug is manufactured using galvanised
steel that is pre-treated before being given a final surface treatment
to reduce its thermal conductivity.
This
is particularly important where products with a thermal barrier are
being installed and there is a need to preserve that barrier. The
GT Lug-Fix will allow installers to maintain the integrity of the
thermal barrier. Designed to accommodate all major window and door
systems the GT Lug-Fix is produced with tooling that allows GT Windows
to make any fixing lugs required within the dimensional parameters
mentioned below.
The new fixing lug is available ex-stock in a standard 20mm width
and in a choice of two lengths namely 150mm and 202mm, in four different
thickness i.e. 1mm, 1.2mm, 1.5mm and 2mm. The thickness required has
to be specified at the tooling stage. The 150mm long lug is available
for certain applications and systems and the 202mm length will enable
installers to comply with the new Building Regulations with regard
to wider cavities. The GT Lug-Fix is available as standard fixing
lugs or as thermal lugs. However, the company is able to supply fixing
lugs to suit the precise requirements of both PVC-U and Aluminium
windows.
GT Windows Managing Director Graham Taylor said that Thermally
efficient window and door systems have been available for some time
but up until now no attention had been given to the thermal conductivity
of peripheral accessories such as fixing lugs. With the new GT fixing
lugs installers can now supply windows and doors confident in the
knowledge that they have supplied and installed products that offer
improved insulation. In addition the new fixing lugs offer a significant
sales advantage over the ordinary non-thermal lugs that are available
from other suppliers.
GT Windows Ltd has over recent years designed and produced a number
of essential security accessories that have been specified and used
by many major systems companies, trade fabricators and retail installers
in the window industry. GT's products include Securi-Clips, Stay-Guards
and Securi-Panels.
