Securi-Panel Enhances the Security of Bead Glazed Panels in PVC-U
Doors
GT
Windows says that it has been a well known fact that many people within
the window industry have had concerns regarding the use of bead glazed
door panels and security. Some panel suppliers have correctly introduced
reinforcement sheets sandwiched in the centre of panels which means
that intruders could not easily cut their way into a property through
a panel.
However, there was still an issue relating to the integrity of PVC-U
doors bead glazed with panels. Systems companies and fabricators would
acknowledge that the most difficult product to submit for security
testing is a panel glazed PVC-U door. PAS 24 testing subjects doors
to rigorous hard and soft body impact testing as well as human intervention
techniques which many panel glazed doors failed i.e. until GT Windows
introduced a simple solution namely the GT Securi-Panel.
GT Securi-Panel is a panel fixing component manufactured from high
carbon steel and is designed to be used specifically with door panels
containing 5mm thick reinforcement sheet sandwiched in the centre.
The GT Securi-Panel component is located onto the reinforcement and
is then screw-fixed to the internally beaded door frame. Fitting the
concealed Securi-Panel component effectively renders the removal of
the door panel virtually impossible without destroying the door frame.
The GT Securi-Panel component was developed by GT Windows Limited
in collaboration with a systems company and a panel producer.
Fitting conventional glass retention clips has provided a good measure
of security but installers seeking additional enhanced security will
find in the GT Securi-Panel component an effective solution. With
5mm thick reinforcements incorporated in door panels combined with
robust GT Securi-Panel components the window industry can now confidently
market and install PVC-U doors bead glazed with panels, knowing that
security is no longer an issue.
Doors glazed with 5mm reinforced panels and the appropriate numbers
of GT Securi-Panel components, correctly positioned, have successfully
passed hard and soft body impact tests and human intervention
tests in accordance with PAS 24.
It is a measure of its success and popularity that several systems
companies have specified the GT Securi-Panel components in their technical
manuals.
GT Windows Ltd has designed and produced a number of security accessories
that have been specified and used by many major systems companies,
trade fabricators and retail installers in the window industry. GT's
products include the new thermal Lug-Fix launched recently, Securi-Clips
and Stay-Guards.
