New
Revolutionary Lifting Device Meets H&S Requirements
Eazi
Lift Ltd says that its new lifting device will revolutionise the way
companies handle window installations at height.
The Harnser,
which provides a safe, quick, easy and legally compliant method of raising
and lowering frames, will reduce the cost, time and risk involved in
window installations above ground floor level.
What is more, via an exclusive contract hire with maintenance
arrangement, the Harnser will be easily affordable for all fitting teams
across the UK. The company says that its introduction has been enthusiastically
received by installers, fabricators and specifiers committed to best
practice.
The Harnser is a lightweight portable device which fits securely in
any window opening in just minutes. Windows can then be removed, lowered
and replaced with new frames, by a sole operator, without the need for
deglazing - saving time and cost.
The Harnser operator always works from inside the building, so the risk
of falls is virtually eliminated. Because the Harnser does the lifting,
the risks of back or other injuries connected with lifting heavy, awkward
frames, is also significantly reduced.
Harnser's inventor, former Anglian design manager Jeff Crowder, says
the driving force behind his two-year development programme, was his
desire to save lives.
Falls from height remain the biggest single cause of workplace
deaths, with 67 fatal accidents in 2003/4 alone. Working from ladders,
or even scaffolding and platforms, can be extremely dangerous, especially
where heavy window frames are being man-handled. Now there is a real
alternative, and initial responses to the Harnser have been tremendously
positive from all quarters.
The launch of the Harnser coincides with the introduction of the new
Working at Height Regulations which came into force in May 2005. These
require that contractors must ensure that no work is done at height
if it is reasonable and practicable to do it other than at height. The
availability of the Harnser means that there is now a totally practicable
complement to ladders and platforms, Says Jeff.
The benefits
are much more far-reaching than merely compliance with health and safety
regulations. Scaffolding, platforms and the like can be costly
and time-consuming to transport, erect and dismantle, especially for
where single window installations are involved. At just 11kgs, the hand-operated
Harnser fits into any van and can be erected and dismantled in minutes,
he says.
Available exclusively from West Midlands-based Eazi Lift Ltd, the Harnser
is acquired via a contract hire arrangement. For a fixed monthly fee,
contractors are provided with a Harnser unit including vacuum lifters
and all other accessories, in a protective carry-case. The Harnser support
team provides full training and commissioning on the first contract,
and offers a total maintenance support package which includes the provision
of a replacement, fully serviced Harnser every six months.
As Jeff explains, That way, operators can be assured that the
vital equipment on which their business and safety depends, is well
maintained and fully functioning. Basically, we have created a package
which offers the perfect answer.
Eazi Lift expects an increasing number of social housing providers to
build into their specifications the requirement for contractors to use
the Harnser on all installation projects in future.
