Aztec
Addresses Warping Issues
Aztec
Conservatory Roof Systems has designed a new twin top cap to address
the problems of warping that the company says have plagued much of the
conservatory industry.
While
the majority of the conservatories installed in the UK are white, there
is an increasing trend towards woodgrain effect finishes and this trend
can also be identified in the sales of doors and windows in the retail
sector. However, dark and laminated pvc-u building products have long
been prone to expansion and contraction and this has proven a particular
problem for conservatories, especially when they are south facing.
When a woodgrain conservatory is installed, the glazing bar and hip
top caps may be prone to warping and while much of the industry now
offers aluminium cappings to address the problem, Aztec has taken the
solution one step further. Colin Bennett, managing director explains:
We took the decision not simply to offer aluminium cappings, but
to offer a pvc product that would better match the entire conservatory.
Our customer feedback clearly identified the need for a conservatory
roof with a complete pvc-u finish.
Aztec believes that the cost of remedial work on conservatories that
have suffered from warping caps is significant as installers seek to
address the complaints of homeowners. This has on occasion resulted
in a distinct lack of confidence for many companies and furthermore
this has meant that installation teams have been spending time at existing
installations and not on new ones.
Colin concludes: Our solution is simple yet very effective it
is a two piece top cap. Those retail companies installing our products
during the hotter summer months are not plagued by complaints but use
the product as a means to gain further sales. If global warming continues
as scientists predict then we feel that our solution will become ever
more important for the installer.
