Timber
+ Aluminium = 'Design-5'
The
UK designer and supplier of composite aluminium and timber window
systems, AM Profiles, says that it has seen phenomenal growth in the
composite window market over the last few years. To capture a greater
share of the growing UK market AM Profiles is now developing a new
generation of window system, named 'Design-5'.
The
single system accommodates all open out conditions, including casement
and reversibles, and is specifically designed for the UK market.
Managing Director, Alistair McBain explains 'The new system perfectly
combines the traditional construction of timber with the exceptional
clean lines of extruded aluminium, the resulting window offers the
best of both materials and is perfectly at home in the commercial
and domestic markets. In all areas of sustainability, insulation,
structure and recyclability, there is currently no match in the UK
market for our new Design-5 system'.
The new 'Design-5' system is a range of extruded profiles which clip
onto a traditional constructed window using a patented nylon clip.
The aluminium forms the outside surface of the window and incorporates
the beading system, weatherstrips, gaskets and carries any aluminium
finish required.
The inside timber surface can be machined to suit the aesthetics for
domestic or commercial use and can be finished in any traditional
manner.
Multipoint locking can be incorporated for additional security and
weathertightness.
Prior to the UK launch of the 'Design-5' system to specifiers later
in 2006, AM Profiles is inviting companies with traditional timber
window machinery to contact the company to discuss the possible adoption
of the system and the granting of a license to manufacture.
It is expected that with a fabrication network of trained 'Design-5'
window manufacturers there should be no shortage of window supply
when builders and specifiers wish to use the system later in the year.
