Look And Learn With New, Focused, Fast-Track Seminars At Glassex

‘An hour at one of this year’s Glassex seminars may be the most valuable you have ever spent.’ That is the proposition from the organisers of this year’s Glassex who say that the event’s revised seminar programme is designed to allow delegates to take what they learn and put it to work immediately.

'The Glassex Seminar programme is designed to have very real value,' explained event Marketing Manager Claire Shilling, 'and to allow delegates to use the information that they learn to their immediate advantage. We have looked closely at the issues facing installers, fabricators and specifiers of windows, doors and conservatories, to then find experts that could discuss those issues, and provide explanations and even solutions. Even the timings of the programme have been reconsidered where appropriate, so that visitors can take a good look at the other aspects of Glassex, and pick and choose the presentations that suit them.'

This year for example, seminars will commence on Monday with a series of sessions aimed at dealing with some of the broader issues facing the industry. All presentations have been chosen for a core audience of fabricators, installers and others in the front line of the glazing community, to include the revisions to the Building Regulations coming into force in April 2006, the irresistible issue of recycling; and a look at the new government training initiative, which can fully fund employee training with no financial commitment from the employer.

Following its overwhelming success when introduced at Glassex ’05 the specialist one-day conference Glazing in the Public Sector: Focus on Housing will again be staged, on Tuesday 7th March 2006. Attracting almost 500 delegate registrations at the inaugural event, numbers are expected to further increase for 2006 with a programme that will be opened by representatives from the Office of the Deputy Prime Minister (ODPM), discussing the impending changes to Part L of the Building Regulations, and their impact on Registered Social Landlords (RSLs). Seminars on such key issues as disability and glazing by a pioneering housing association, in the context of the legislative and moral expectations of housing professionals; and a further look at the Energy Savings Recommended scheme are also expected to be included.

And an exciting, brand new programme on Production issues will be staged on the Wednesday morning, looking at key aspect of frame manufacture in the 21st Century, and in the context of the pressures currently facing fabricators. Designed to offer the maximum amount of information in the minimum time frame, each session is presented by experts that deal with the issues they are discussing on a daily basis, in the real world of frame making. The programme looks at the latest advances in software systems, and automation for the smaller fabricator is studied as technology brings this into the realms of outputs of 200 frames per week or less. The pros and cons of in-house IGU production are explored, with the improvements in profitability that efficient logistics may bring, providing the final presentation.

All seminars are free of charge, but delegates should register to ensure attendance, which is otherwise on a strict first-come-first served basis.
