May the Force be with you

Force (Forum for Constructing Excellence) – the construction best practice club for Coventry and Warwickshire – is urging local companies and individuals to get involved and keep things local.

June saw the highest number of website hits for the Constructing Excellence sites and the Force site came out on top in the national league table. Now the club wants to turn the web hits into higher attendances at its monthly breakfast seminars. These are held at Oak Tree Court, Binley Business Park on the last Thursday of every month (except July and August).

Force has a huge influence in both local and national construction policies. Following the recent debate on the Code for Sustainable Homes (CfSH), new Force chairman John Cave said: "The Code for Sustainable Homes and other legislation will change the way we build. Many companies in Coventry and Warwickshire are worried what impact it will have on their business and are looking for some answers. The event provided a platform for local businesses in the construction sector to air those views and frustrations to a panel of experts who offered very practical advice on how to comply. The feedback from members has been excellent and we look forward to building on this with future events."

Force also supports innovation in the construction industry and Southam-based member Alumet has recently secured the Queen's Award for Enterprise for the second time in five years. Alumet director Dean Walton said: "Force, as a best practice club, is an organisation that the region should be very proud of, the networking opportunities with fellow companies in the local construction sector helped provide Alumet with the necessary support to make this accolade possible."
